Korea seek to end losing streak in match against Trinidad & Tobago

 

Kobe, Japan, October 4, 2018 - Korea will be seeking to end their losing streak when they face winless Trinidad & Tobago in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship.

Head-to-head
• These teams have never met in a major encounter at world level.
• World level major competitions are: Olympic Games, World Championship, World Cup, World Grand Prix, Grand Champions Cup and Nations League.

Trinidad & Tobago
• Trinidad & Tobago have lost against Russia, United States, Thailand and Azerbaijan in their debut World Championship campaign.
• They lost three matches in straight sets, while claiming their first set in a 3-1 defeat against Thailand on Tuesday: 25-23 in the third set.
• Trinidad & Tobago won one of their six matches in their previous world level major competition, the 2017 World Grand Prix. They defeated Australia 3-1 in front of a home crowd in Port of Spain.
• Three of their players have scored 40+ points in the tournament: Channon Thompson (46), Krystle Esdelle (45) and Sinead Jack (40).

Republic of Korea
• Republic of Korea started their 2018 World Championship with defeats against Thailand (3-2), Azerbaijan (3-1), United States (3-1) and Russia (3-0)
• Republic of Korea have now lost six successive World Championship matches, their longest losing streak in the tournament.
• Republic of Korea have had at least one win in each of their previous 11 World Championships.
• Jeongah Park (82) and Yeon Koung Kim (71) are Republic of Korea's most prolific scorers at this World Championship.
