Dominican Republic coach Kwiek pleased with team's form in win over Kenya

 

Hamamatsu, Japan, October 4, 2018 - Yonkaira Isabel scored 16 points as the Dominican Republic routed Kenya 3-0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-15) at the FIVB Women's World Championship on Thursday afternoon. The victory advanced the Dominicans to the second round of the tournament and the coach was pleased with his team's form.

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: We are very happy with the result. Not just for the three points, but also for the form we showed today. We had focus and were aggressive. We have to concentrate on the next round now. I hope Kenya will be be a better team with practice and experience.

Kenya coach Japheth Munala: We wanted to play well against the Dominican Republic. They destroyed our reception and were fast on counterattack. I wish the Dominican Republic success in the next round and hope they go all the way to the final.

Dominican captain Bethania De La Cruz: We are very happy with the result. We got the three points. We have good combination play today. We prepared well and deserved the victory.

Kenya captain Mercy Moim: They played a super game. We played our best but they destroyed our reception. They are very tall and play well.
