Cameroon played with a lot of energy and physical strength, says Dutch spiker Buijs

Yokohama, Japan, October 1, 2018 - The Netherlands maintained their 100 per cent record in Pool A by beating a battling Cameroon 3-0 at Yokohama Arena on Monday.

Netherlands No. 11 Anne Buijs: This is very nice to see Cameroon play. We enjoy the way they play volleyball and have a lot of energy. For us it was important to win this match in three sets. The second set was close but we could take it. It was a good match for us today. Cameroon play with a lot of power and physical strength and have a good block. We had to change a little bit but we could find a way in the end.

Netherlands Head Coach Jamie Morrison: It was a difficult match for us because we had the late match last night and spent a lot of energy and we did not sleep much because of the typhoon. Cameroon was a dangerous match and they have a lot of energy. We are aiming to be one of the top three teams in the world.

Cameroon Captain Christelle Nana: We gave our best but the result was disappointing, especially because we could have won the second set. We will focus on the next match and keep learning.

Cameroon Head Coach Jean Rene Bekono Akono: At the beginning of the game our reception did not function too well and our libero had a tough time. She is not usually a libero, she is a middle blocker and she prepared for three months to play as libero, so overall I am very satisfied with her performance. We are learning from each match.
