Ze Roberto's team will begin their World Championship campaign against Puerto Rico
Lausanne, Switzerland, September 19, 2018 – Brazil will begin their quest to win a first FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship when they depart for the Japan 2018 edition on Wednesday.
Jose Roberto ‘Ze Roberto’ Guimaraes' team have happy memories of competing in World Championships in Japan having won silver in Osaka in 2006 and Tokyo in 2010. They also won silver in Sao Paolo in 1994, and bronze in Milan in 2014.

The Japan 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship will run from September 29 – October 20, with the semifinals and medal matches due to take place in Yokohama.
“I believe we have improved both in physical and in technical aspects,” Ze Roberto said. “We are still recovering some players who arrived with injuries, but we are evolving every day.
“We hope to have the whole team ready for the beginning of the World Championship. We know of the difficulty we will face in this competition from the level of opponents and the amount of games.”
Guimaraes will take his 15-player squad to Sagamihara, a city one hour from Tokyo, where they will begin their preparations for the tournament.
Brazil start against Puerto Rico in Hamamatsu on September 29, and they also face the Dominican Republic, Serbia, Kenya and Kazakhstan in their first round matches.
“Our team is very focused and we are working very hard,” centre Adenzia Da Silva said. “We know our potential and we will try to do our best to get to the top of the podium.
“Nerves are starting to appear and this is a positive feeling. I believe we can enjoy a memorable campaign.”
