Cameroon are competing in the FIVB World Championship for the third time, after finishing 21st in both their previous appearances (2006, 2014).
After stunning Egypt to qualify for their first ever Olympic Games, Cameroon ranked 11th overall at Rio 2016, impressing the world with their ability during a dramatic five-set defeat at the hands of Argentina.
Cameroon followed up on their historic Olympic appearance with a gold medal at the 2017 African Championship, shutting out Kenya 3-0 for their first ever title in the competition. They had previously won two silver and six bronze medals in the African Championships, as well as three silvers and a bronze in the All-Africa Games.
