Women's African Nations Championship nears

 

Kenya will be among the favourites at the African championship

Cairo, Egypt, September 13, 2017 - Twelve teams have registered to participate in the 2017 Women's African Nations Championship and join hosts Cameroon in a competition which also serves as a qualifier for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. The World Championship will be held in Japan from September 29 to October 20 next year.
 
Cameroon will host the African competition from October 7 to 14 in the country's capital, Yaoundé. The organisers will be joined by squads from Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, Egypt, Botswana, Tunisia, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria and Senegal.
 
Tunisia defeated Algeria to qualify for the event via a CAVB Zone 1 qualifier. Algeria are also qualified thanks to their world ranking points. The teams above also include Nigeria and Ghana following a Zone 3 qualifier held in Ivory Coast.
