We were really focused today: Germany coach Koslowski

Yokohama, Japan, October 3, 2018 - Germany coach Felix Koslowski praised his side’s focus after they won for the third match in a row at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship on Wednesday, beating Mexico 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.

Germany coach Felix Koslowski: Before the match we had a lot of respect for Mexico. They were a little unlucky having to take out Melanie Guadalupe Parra Quintero in the first game (against Cameroon), but after that they have played some really good volleyball. We were really focused today, especially on Mexico’s serving - they have some great servers. All over they are a young team that can have a really good future. They already play well organised, have good wing attackers, so this was not an easy match for us. For sure I’m very happy today that we could handle this match 3-0, we played really well and I think the first set was especially key. The girls were pushing very well, 3-0 today, three points, and so I’m very happy against a very good team from Mexico.

Germany captain Maren Fromm: We were expecting exactly this game. We knew Mexico had three good wing spikers and our goal was to stop them, and in the end I think we succeeded in doing that.

Mexico coach Ricardo Naranjo: I’d like to say congratulations to Germany. It was a very good match. Even in difficult situations Germany were able to score, that’s why they won the match. They have very experienced players who can score even in difficult situations. We didn’t give up on the game either though, and so I think this was a very positive game.

Mexico captain Andrea Rangel: Unfortunately we couldn’t win here, but from now on I will just focus on tomorrow’s match.
