Thais pick up the pace, despite injuries

Kobe, Japan, October 4, 2018 - Thailand Captain Pleumjit Thinkaow: Today's game was very tough. We were slow at the beginning of the match but after that we could increase our rhythm and play to our normal style. We will try to build on this victory in the second round.

Thailand Head Coach Danai Sriwachamaytakul: Azerbaijan is a strong team with a high block and good spike to it was a hard game. However, our team played so well and I am proud of that. In the second round we will focus as a team. We have some injuries (No. 16 and No. 18) but we must do our best to represent the nation.

Azerbaijan Captain Odina Aliyeva: We are very happy to qualify for the second round but disappointed to lose this game. We will take a rest and then prepare for the second round and look back on the games in the first round and correct our mistakes.

Azerbaijan Assistant Coach Famil Aghayev: We wanted to win today's game but couldn't because Thailand had a very quick attacking system and we could not match this speed. We still have several problems to sort out for the next round. The Thai defence received 70 per cent of our attack.
