Nagoya, Japan, October 7, 2018 - Tijana Boskovic scored 11 points as Serbia opened play in the second round of the FIVB Women's World Championship on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-15) victory over Mexico. The Serbia coach was pleased that all of his players had the chance to see action in the match.
Serbia coach Zoran Terzic: It is difficult to play so early. We played well enough to win. All the players got to play. That could help us later. Now we have to focus on Germany tomorrow. We are in good shape. Bojana Milenkovic suffered a serious knee injury in Hamamatsu. She is on the plane back to Serbia now. She will not be able to participate in volleyball activities for 6 months.
Mexico coach Ricardo Naranjo: Serbia is an excellent team, one of the best in the world. I think they will go to the final of this tournament. We played well in the first and second sets. Serbia was superior and troubled us with their serves and blocks. We will try our best from here on.
Serbia captain Maja Ognjenovic: It was good that all of our players got to play today. It was tough with the early start. No. 5 (Andrea Rangel) and No. 6 (Samantha Bricio) were good for them. Mexico fought really hard, but we found solutions for their attacks. We look forward to the next games.
Mexico captain: Andrea Rangel: It is unfortunate that we lost. We still are off to a decent start. We want to proceed to the third round of the tournament.
