Kobe, Japan, October 2, 2018 - Russia Captain Evgeniya Startseva: Today's game was different from our previous games. We knew Azerbaijan had a strong attack and we had to match this. We were able to do this and this was the key to our victory.
Russia Head Coach Vadim Pankov: Our team and Azerbaijan have a close relationship because we have played each other so many times in European competitions. Azerbaijan is a strong team with a great serve and we needed a bit of luck at the end of the first set.
Azerbaijan Captain Odina Aliyeva: We were able to play our own game today and played well, but it was not enough. We still have two more games to play in this group so we will try to win these.
Azerbaijan Assistant Coach Famil Aghayev: Looking back through all the sets our play was very good. In the first set our attack was not working too well but we recovered and played better.
