It was a 'great battle', says USA coach

Kobe, Japan, October 3, 2018 - Head Coach Karch Kiraly: I want to give congratulations to the Thailand team. They always play with incredible spirit and they are a team that is really exciting in the world of volleyball and fans all over the world love their their style of play. They kept fighting no matter who they had on the court. That was a great battle. Even though Thailand fought so hard our team did a great job of keeping our patience and our poise.

USA Captain Jordan Larson: I thought we came out really strong to start the match. Obviously Thailand is a very strong team so we were expecting them to come at us hard and they did in the third and fourth sets and definitely in the fifth, so I am really proud of our team for coming out with a win. There is still lots of chances to get better.

Thailand Captain Pleumjit Thinkaow: Our performance was better than expected. In the first two sets we could not receive well but after the second set we were able to adjust and racted with our speed.

Thailand Head Coach Danai Sriwachamaytakul: We knew the United States would be a very strong team with a quick playing style. Against a strong serve we could not receive so well in the beginning but then our play improved and I want to thank all members of the team for their performance. Our No. 18 (Ajcharaporn) will go to hospital to check her (ankle) injury but the doctor thinks it is not too serious.
