Important to get our confidence back: Bulgaria captain

Bulgaria captain Hristina Ruseva was happy with her team's performance against Cuba on Sunday

Sapporo, Japan, September 30, 2018 – Bulgaria breezed past Cuba 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-14) on the second day of the FIVB Women’s World Championship at Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center on Sunday. Bulgaria captain Hristina Ruseva said she was proud of her team.

Bulgaria captain Hristina Ruseva: I’m really proud today with this win by my team. It was really important because yesterday we had a bad loss to Italy. Now we need to get our self-confidence back. I hope in our next game we will be able to concentrate like we did today.

Bulgaria coach Ivan Petkov: Today, our team played a good match against Cuba. Cuba are a young team but we played very well today. I think our attack and serve were very good.

Cuba coach Tomas Fernandez: Congratulations to Bulgaria. They really served well so we weren’t able to play like we wanted to or as we usually do. The average age of the team was around 20; we are the youngest team but we are developing and looking ahead to the Olympics after next.

Cuba captain Diaris Perez: I think the reason we lost was because our opponents were serving so well, which meant we couldn’t get going. Also, our level of technique isn’t good enough to compete with Bulgaria, so we need to practice for our next games.
