China captain Zhu Ting was joint top scorer on Saturday
Sapporo, Japan, September 29, 2018 – Yuan Xinyue matched Zhu Ting’s 16 points in China’s 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-14) win over Cuba in the FIVB Women’s World Championship on Saturday as China coach moved her team’s players around to try to find a good mix.
China coach Lang Ping: It was our first game so I focused on getting into a match rhythm. So I used a lot of players to check out different combinations. We haven’t played Cuba for a couple of years and they were very good, especially in the second set.
China captain Zhu Ting: I think we were able to play very well today and it was a good match.
China No. 12 Li Yingying: We played well but I don’t think we were so stable, so we want to fix that.
Cuba captain Diaris Perez: It was a very good experience for us and we were able to have a good game with the Olympic champions.
Cuba coach Tomas Fernandez Arteaga: We had a really good game today and I want to thank my team. We are changing generations with an eye on the 2024 Olympics and I think we are in a very positive position right now.
