Dominican coach says veteran players are important in big tournaments

Hamamatsu, Japan, October 1, 2018 - Prisilla Brens and Paola Pena scored 13 points each as the Dominican Republic defeated Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-19) in Pool D play at the FIVB Women's World Championship on Monday afternoon and the winning team's coach relied on his experienced players in the match.

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: We are very happy to get our first win of the tournament. We had some good points and bad points. We have some work to do on those. We are aiming for a better performance from here one. It is important to use veteran players in a big event like this. They were good on receiving and attacking.

Kazakhstan coach Shapran Vyacheslav: They are a good team. I have watched them play many times. They are physical and tall and better than us. I like their style. They have good technique in service, attack and blocking, which is quite beyond us. This is the reason for the result.

Dominican Republic captain Bethania De La Cruz: We are happy with the victory. We passed and set well today. We still have some elements to improve. We had to win this game.

Kazakhstan captain Radmila Beresneva: They played stable through the match and did a good job. Their reserve players also played well.
