China coach Lang wanted more decisive win over United States

 

Nagoya, Japan, October 14, 2018 - Zhu Ting scored a match-high 25 points as China rallied past the United States 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-9) in the third round of the FIVB Women's World Championship on Sunday but the China coach said she would have liked to have won more convincingly.

China coach Lang Ping: It was a great game. The U.S. team plays fast. We would have liked to win in a more solid way. There are many things that happen in a match. We can learn a lot from this match. We look forward to the next one.

USA coach Karch Kiraly: I'm proud of my team and the way we battled. We came up a little short. We are excited about the chance to play the Netherlands tomorrow.

China captain Zhu Ting: Today was an intense match. I will work hard so we can win the next one as well.

China player Zhang Changning: It was a tough match. We were able to give all of our capabilities and I am happy we won.

USA captain Jordan Larson: We wish we would have won. We had chances to win. I'm proud of us for hanging tough. I look forward to tomorrow.

USA player Foluke Akinradewo: In a sense it is a disappointing match, but I'm proud of the team. We played aggressively from the start. There are a few things we could have switched. We will be ready for the match with the Netherlands tomorrow.
