Hamamatsu, Japan, October 3, 2018 - Natalia Pereira registered a match-high 12 points as Brazil downed Kenya 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-16) in Pool D action at the FIVB Women's World Championship on Wednesday night and the Brazil coach liked Pereira's performance.
Brazil coach Jose Guimaraes: We played a really good match tonight. Natalia is an important player for us. She had two points on blocks, four on serve and six on spikes. When you play against one of the best teams in the world like Serbia, the focus is different. Our team was more relaxed tonight. We studies our mistakes from the last game. So I am happy about the situation now.
Kenya coach Japheth Bulali: We started well. We are supposed to challenge Brazil. They capitalized on our weakness in reception. We had no good combinations tonight. Maybe next time we meet we will play better.
Brazil captain Natalia Pereira: We got our confidence back today after the Serbia match where we defended poorly. We changed players tonight and got the momentum form the start. Kenya has made a lot of progress. I admire them.
Kenya captain Mercy Moim: We started well. Brazil is the best team in the world. We tried to control their serve, reception and attack. Our young players got some good experience in this match. We played our best. That's what we did.
