Argentina say goodbye to Jujuy and travel to Peru for World Championship qualifier

 

Las Panteras visited a school in Humahuaca as they prepared for the World Championship qualifier this week

Humahuaca, Argentina, October 11, 2017 - After a training camp in Humahuaca, Argentina now travel to Peru for the Japan 2018, FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship CSV qualifier to be held in Arequipa from October 13 to 15, where coach Guillermo Orduna's team will take on the host nation, Colombia and Uruguay.

Located at an altitude of over 3000 metres, the training camp in Hamahuaca has helped Argentina prepare for the qualifier, which will also be played at over 2000 metres. Argentina's first match is against Colombia on Friday at 19.00 local time. Orduna's team then face Uruguay on Saturday and Peru on Sunday. Only the tournament winners will qualify for next year's World Championship in Japan.

Argentina will play without Tanya Acosta, who injured her left ankle during preparation. She has been replaced by Antonela Fortuna, who has trained with the team since Sunday.

The team visited a school in Humahuaca and spent time with the students before departing for Arequipa for the World Championship qualifier. During their stay, the players also received the support of the Governor of the province of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales, and of local fans who attended training sessions daily.
