Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad & Tobago are the only team amongst the 24 entrants to make their World Championship debut in 2018. It is a truly historic moment for the team, who have never competed in any other world event.
The Caribbean side finished 31st in their sole FIVB World Grand Prix appearance last year, and have been a strong competitor in nine North and Central America & Caribbean (NORCECA) Championships. Their best finish came in 2013 when they ranked 6th.
Trinidad & Tobago narrowly missed out on an unprecedented international medal at the 2010 Central American & Caribbean Games of 2010, when they lost 3-1 to Costa Rica in the bronze medal match.

Cruz Jimenez, Francisco

Francisco Cruz's career in volleyball began in 1967 as an instructor of various teams. In 2005 he was sent by the North and Central America & Caribbean Confederation (NORCECA) to Trinidad & Tobago in an effort to further develop the sport of volleyball in the country eventually taking up the position of Technical Director and head coach of the Trinidad & Tobago Women's National Team. He has been influential in improving their international ranking from the 93rd to the 31st. Previously had been part of the coaching staff of the Cuban men's youth National Team in the 1970s. He has also worked in Peru and the Dominican Republic.
