Dominican Republic women’s team arrives in Japan

 

The Dominican team recently was crowned champions at the Women´s Pan American Cup in Peru

Okayama, Japan, September 20, 2018 - The Dominican Republic women's team is currently training and playing friendly matches in Okayama, Japan as part of its preparation for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship to be held in different cities in Japan from September 29 to October 30.

While in Okayama, the Dominicans will play against the Bulgarian national team and the Seagulls Volleyball Team, a professional First Division team which is active in the Japanese National League.

The roster of the Dominican Republic team includes libero and star player Brenda Castillo; outside hitters Bethania de la Cruz, Prisilla Rivera, Yonkaira Peña Isabel and Brayelin Martinez; opposite players Gina Mambru and Gaila Gonzalez; middle blockers, Annerys Vargas, Candida Arias Perez, Lisvel Eve and Jineiry Martinez; setters Niverka Marte and Camil Dominguez and defense specialist Larysmer Martinez.

The Dominican Republic who finished fifth in the previous FIVB World Championship held in Italy in 2014, are once again coached by Brazilian Marcos Kwiek, who will be assisted by Wagner Pacheco and Wilson Sanchez. The trainer is Marcelo Cezarano and the therapist Cesar Villalona. Yeivic Jimenez is the statistician.

The Dominicans will play the first round in Pool D in Hamamatsu alongside Brazil, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Puerto Rico and Serbia.
